Just wanted to stick my head in and say Hi! to everybody. It hasnt been the best summer ever by any means. Had to quit my job back in June and we've been strugglin ever since. I have been doing some writing and I did manage to finally get my allgnosticism blog up and running. Hope to be able to participate in the forum more often when I get the kids back in school in the next couple of weeks, In the meantime, here are links to my writing all over the web.
When I don't have time to write I tend to do a lot of quizzes. Once the drama in my house has passed I'll be able to post something more substantial than *Blogthings*. Have a great day everybody.
You are neither a subdued loner nor a jovial chatterbox. You enjoy time with others but also time alone. You can be very easily upset, even by what most people consider the normal demands of living. People consider you to be extremely sensitive and emotional. Novelty, variety, and change spice up your life and make you a curious, imaginative, and creative person. You have a strong interest in others' needs and well-being. You are pleasant, sympathetic, and cooperative. You are reasonably reliable, organized, and self-controlled.
Difficult times make us stronger, right? Please help me remember that for the next few days. My 17yo son was dx'ed with bipolar disorder when he was 12. We have had a long and difficult road to the proper diagnosis. Living with him is a step above challenging sometimes. This would be one of those times. He has not had a med change in over 5 years. The change we are going through is not a good one. His psychiatrist is not in the office until Monday so I'm going to need some calming, peaceful, balanced energy built up. I can do it alone but it's much more effective in numbers. Especially sincere, Pagan numbers. He is experiencing an adverse reaction to Klonopin. It is causing behavior disorders, depressed feeling, hallucinations, restlessness, sleeping difficulties, tremors, anxiety, agitation and lack of muscle coordination. He gets angry very easily after he takes it and his bipolar temper is a very intimidating thing. We need a protective calm around us. An insulation from the stupid real world for a while. I took the day off tomorrow bc today was so difficult. I told them I wouldnt be in and if they couldnt deal with it, I wouldnt be back. It will be Monday before we can stop the meds so, I am going to cleanse the house tomorrow. maybe getting rid of some negative energy will help reduce the level of chaos. I usually love thursdays.
Valentine's Day is not my favorite holiday for a number of reasons. The main reason being that on this lovestruck day of the year, many people end up feeling left out. If you're not in a romantic relatioship, it can be a lonely holiday full of watching others give and receive tokens of affection. My daughter Melani is not fond of the day either. However, she took steps to do something from the heart this year that made me proud.
At my daughter's middle school every year, they sell flower-grams for students to send to one another. The valentine treats are passed out in class. The teacher calls each student to the front of the class and they pick up their gift. Many students don't receive one and end up feeling left out as a result. Although that is the nature of middle school (I remember it well) Melani took steps to make a difference for a few of her fellow students this year.
Melani took part of her Christmas/Yule money and bought about $20 worth of flower-grams. Some were for her friends. But several of the grams that she paid for were for students that she felt reasonably certain wouldnt receive one otherwise. Some of the students she knows personally and some she doesn't. She took the time to find out the names and teachers for the ones that she doesn't know. A clear expression of her determination to do something good and right. She sent them anonymously because it's not about getting credit for doing it. It's about making someone feel better when they least expect it, keeping others from feeling left out and performing a random act of simple kindness.
I wanted to give her a big pat on the back for doing something so compassionate and thoughtful. In this day and age we need all the compassion and thoughtfulness that we can get as it seems to be missing from our daily lives. When you plant that kind of seed, it is bound to grow a beautiful flower. If we could all just learn to plant those seeds everywhere we go, the whole world would be covered in a garden of happiness and smiles. Wouldn't that be just beautiful. Happy early Valentine's Day to everyone!
Hi, little Ms. M! You look like an interesting soul-- hope you'll stop by my page sometime. You just reminded me to put Paris Hilton in my own "Dislikes" section, LOL. Ta-ta for now! :-)
